When I visit Fargo on Tuesday, I'll bring a message to the good people of North Dakota: The American economy is booming - and we're just getting started.
Since day one of our administration, President Trump has taken decisive action to rev the engine of our national prosperity and restore hope to the forgotten men and women of America.
We've eliminated 22 federal regulations for every one we've issued, and we gave relief to North Dakota farmers and families when we repealed the disastrous Waters of U.S. Rule. And working with Rep. Kevin Cramer and Sen. John Hoeven, our president has signed more laws cutting through federal red tape than any president in American history.
We've also been unleashing American energy - North Dakota's lifeblood. We've rolled back the Clean Power Plan, withdrawn America from the Paris Climate Accord, and we greenlighted the Keystone and Dakota Pipelines.
The results have been remarkable.
Since our election, businesses have created nearly 3 million new jobs, including 3,300 good-paying jobs in energy and resource development in North Dakota last year alone. Nationally, the unemployment rate is at a 17-year low, and North Dakota is now tied for the second lowest unemployment rate in the entire country.
But the best is yet to come. Just over three months ago, Trump signed the largest tax cuts and tax reform in American history.
North Dakota needed our tax cut, and Cramer and Hoeven both voted to pass it. Sadly, Sen. Heidi Heitkamp voted against cutting your taxes - even though we gave historic relief to the state's working families and job creators large and small.
Under our tax cuts, the first $24,000 in income for a married couple is now tax-free, the child tax credit is twice as high, and 90 percent of working families will soon see the tax cut reflected in their paychecks.
All told, we estimate the typical North Dakota family of four will see a tax cut of over $2,600.
We also gave North Dakota families relief from the disaster of ObamaCare. We eliminated the law's individual mandate tax, so you'll no longer be forced to buy unaffordable government-mandated health insurance.
We also cut taxes for businesses of all sizes when we slashed the corporate tax rate from the highest in the developed world to below the average. And North Dakota small businesses and family farms received significant relief, which means deeper roots across the state.
A tax cut for businesses is a pay raise for workers, and as job creators invest in their employees, working families across the state can expect to see their paychecks grow by over $4,500 in the years ahead.
When you add in the lower taxes that North Dakotans are already paying, it's clear: Our tax cuts are working for North Dakota.
It's been a year of promises made and promises kept - but we still have more to do. With Trump's leadership, with the continued support of North Dakota, and with God's help, I know: we'll finish what we've started, and we'll make "America Great Again"
