In the 1930s postage was increased from 2 cents to 3 cents. At that time I was a youngster looking for work. If I was lucky I would find work paying me 10 cents an hour. Postage was 20 percent or 30 percent of that "minimum wage."
Minimum wage is now $5 or $6 an hour. Twenty or 30 percent of that would be anywhere from $1 to $1.80.
Postage is incredibly cheap.
