As a property owner in Fargo for the past 25 years, a property tax freeze sounds wonderful.

In reality, I believe it would be detrimental to Fargo and the citizens of Fargo. A freeze on "revenue" for five years could have a very negative impact on necessary services.

I would wonder if candidate for mayor, Brad Swenson, has ever been part of a large, complex organization which has experienced a "budgetary" freeze? I have (as has candidate Arlette Preston) and the challenge of providing necessary services with reduced revenue is a nightmare. I do not believe Fargo citizens would want to experience the nightmare of reduced services. I would also wonder what is the basis for the five years established by Swenson?

Let's give Preston the opportunity, as mayor, to explore the options for addressing property taxes and to come up with a viable plan for implementation. I believe she will do so - and without the adverse effects of a freeze on property taxes.
