I would like to pass along my congratulations to Bill Marcil for being awarded the North Dakota Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award.
"Awarded" is probably not the correct word in this instance. "Earned" is a much more appropriate term in my opinion.
Marcil has made major contributions to journalism not only in North Dakota and the Midwest, but in the nation.
His integrity and fairness should be goals that journalists should continue to strive to reach and hope to "come close" to achieving.
I served as news director for WDAY radio for a period of time and had occasion to meet with Marcil several times. I always came away from those meetings feeling informed, educated and knowing inside that I was a respected member of his organization whose opinions were taken seriously.
