Shaw: Back and forth with the readers
In this week's column, Jim Shaw shares some recent positive and negative feedback he's received from readers.
You asked for it. You’ve got it. It’s time for another edition of, “Reader Feedback.” Often imitated, never duplicated, it’s the column about you, the readers. It tells you what readers are saying to me or about me on emails, Facebook or published letters. About 80% of the comments are wonderful. Here are some of them.
From Melissa: “I’ve said this many many times before, but we are so lucky to have you.”
From Heidi: “This column made my day! Your columns give me a truthful and clear insight of what’s really going on. Thank you, Jim!”
From Larry: “We love reading your columns! You are an insightful and passionate defender of democracy and human rights.”
From Peggy: “Thank you for being an excellent voice of reason, intelligence and decency for our region!”
Wow! I am touched by those awesome comments. Thanks so much. Now, let’s hear from readers who have a different view of my work, along with my responses.
From Peter (after my column about Congressional candidate Cara Mund ): “Some people won’t read this because they don’t have a subscription, but most people won’t read it because it’s garbage.”
Dear Peter, Then why did you read it?
From Ron: “Whoever Shaw supports, you need to vote for the other people.”
Dear Ron, I support Donald Trump.
From Keith: “Remember when Clinton said we are a basket of deplorables? Here’s my basket: Jim Shaw, Bender, Joel Heitkamp, Mike McFeely.”
Dear Keith, Actually, we deliver gift baskets of enlightenment to the uninformed and closed-minded.
From Bryan: “Taking you to task for the stupid s*** you write makes me and a lot of other people happy.”
Dear Bryan, You really need to find a hobby.
From Marina: “See this is Jim’s problem. He thinks his opinions are better than everyone else’s.”
Dear Marina, I don’t think my opinions are better than everyone else’s. However, I do think my opinions are better than yours.
From Steve: “I assume you are for open borders and high gas prices.”
Dear Steve, You know what happens when you assume.
From former Fargo City Commissioner Tony Gehrig : “Good Lord Shaw. It’s like you are screaming at a mirror.”
Dear Tony, I think you have me confused with a pillow salesman from Minnesota.
From Ryan: “He (me) got his signed copy of the Communist Manifesto in the mail.”
Dear Ryan, Thanks so much for sending it to me.
Keep those comments coming, and stay tuned for the next edition of, “Reader Feedback.”
