For years I thought I should volunteer to ring a bell for the Salvation Army Kettle Drive. I was right; I should have started sooner. It made me feel great about the season. So many folks understand the good work done by the Army, and share those stories when they make a drop. Volunteer fire departments are especially profuse in their praise.

If you were one of the many who helped, thanks again. If you missed me this year, I'll be back, but remember, unlike the kettles, the Salvation Army's mailbox is open all year.

Merry Christmas, ding, ding.
