Having recently attended a Fargo City Commission candidate's forum, it became clear to me early on who would be the best candidate to fill the vacant commission seat. Tim Mahoney came across as thoughtful, interested in listening to Fargoan's concerns, and interested in being a true representative of Fargoans.
In recent months, the term "Cityscapes" has become shorthand for all that is self-promoting, selfish and insensitive and short-sighted in planning of downtown and its future. Everything I heard from Mahoney that night demonstrated that he was against this type of attitude.
The upcoming election on Tuesday is a pivotal and crucial one. We have an opportunity to turn a corner in our commission and have a majority of the commission which is citizen input-seeking, inclusive, responsible and respectful of citizens' needs and wishes. Mahoney would be a great asset to accomplishing those means.
We all lead busy lives and it might be easy to forget about the upcoming election. Please take a few minutes to vote Sept. 13 and please help elect Mahoney to the City Commission.
