From reading the dissertations of letter-writers regarding the blood type of Adam and Eve, one deduces that they are treating Adam and Eve as two different individuals. They were not. Eve, according to the Genesis story, was a clone of Adam and thus her blood type would have been the same as Adam's. Yahweh purposely used Adam's rib to "create" Eve, foregoing the use of primordial muck from which he fashioned Adam.

Since there are a variety of blood types within the human family, Genesis as a substitute for science of genetics, is of doubtful value. It was a subtle attempt by the Yahvistic compilers of the middle-eastern legends to diminish the stature of women in patriarchal society. What better way to achieve it than to submerge her identity in man's? That process is still going on.

One other aspect of this intriguing saga is tweaking this octogenarian mind: If Adam and Eve were of the same flesh, wouldn't their union render us all children of incest? And if so, would this be the final explanation for original sin?
