I am concerned about smoking in public restaurants. Why are people allowed to put others' health in jeopardy?
It is a fact that people can get lung cancer not only by smoking but also by inhaling secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke is as harmful as firsthand smoke.
In a restaurant, it is really uncomfortable to smell smoke and have my eyes burn. I do not believe that having just a smoking/nonsmoking section is enough. The smoke from the smoking section usually finds its way to the nonsmoking section.
Think of young children who are with their families in a restaurant. Even if they are sitting in a non-smoking section, the smoke can still bother them. Is it really fair for a person who is allergic to smoke to go to a restaurant and be bothered by smoke?
Going out to eat is supposed to be enjoyable. I am not saying that all restaurants are smoky, but there are quite a few that are. I know when I go to a restaurant, I want to have a good smoke-free time. Smoking in public restaurants violates rights because it puts peoples' health at risk.
