If 4,000 people show up Thursday evening for the second annual meth toolbox event, sponsors will be ready.

"A Community Toolbox to Fight Meth; Round 2" will begin at 6 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m. at the Fargodome. Last year 500 people were expected at the Fargo Civic Center. Nearly 4,000 showed up, underscoring community concern about the proliferation of methamphetamine.

This year's session will build on last year's success and on public awareness that has been generated since then. Moreover, sponsors of the event - Fargo police, Cass County public health among them - can report some success in the fight against meth. Heightened public awareness is one of the most potent tools in the toolbox.

The fight is far from over, however. Attend the Thursday toolbox meeting. Take in the workshops. Learn about meth and its effects on individuals, the court system and society in general. Become more aware and become part of the solution.
