Meet the seven new members of The Forum’s Readers Board. They join five returning members whose terms expire in June.
Members stay on for a year, but terms are staggered by a half-year. The paper’s community sounding board chooses its own successors.
We want to first thank our members leaving the board: Kaia Watkins, Meagan McDougall, Ken Enockson and Ashley Kuntz.
New members are:
Angela Doll, 42, Fargo, is an assistant principal at Moorhead High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in special education and both a master’s degree and ed leadership degree from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She has lived in the area most of her life.
Jeffrey Eide, 30, Fargo, works with Great Rides Fargo and volunteers as a community organizer. He has been involved with the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center, Men’s Action Network and Great Plains Atheists. He has lived in this area for three years.
Brad Friesen, 56, Fargo, works in the power engineering field. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marine biology from Seattle Pacific University and an associate degree in industrial electrical technology from the North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton. He is married with three children and has lived in the area on and off for the past 14 years.
Robert Lauf, 23, Fargo, works with the Doug Burgum for North Dakota campaign. He graduated from North Dakota State University last year. He is originally from Mayville, N.D.
Mark Hassenstab, 65, Detroit Lakes, Minn., is a retired English and journalism teacher. He earned a bachelor’s degree in literature and language arts from Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall, and a master’s degree in English from Bemidji (Minn.) State University. He is married with two adult children.
Jessica Jarmin, 34, West Fargo, is the director of strategy and growth for Cognosante. She earned a degree in professional photography technology from Ridgewater College, Willmar, Minn. She is the mother of a 4-year-old daughter and has lived in the area for 12 years.
Ruel Johnson, 45, Moorhead, is a self-employed entrepreneur. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Bethel University and master’s degrees in management and business administration from the University of Mary. He has a wife and two daughters and has lived in the area since 1992.
Returning Readers Board members are:
Lester Hazlett, 76, Fargo, is a retired engineer and manager. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at the University of Illinois and attended an advance management program at Arizona State University. He is married and has lived in the area for 14 years.
Mike Miller, 59, Fargo, is employed as the learning management system manager for the North Dakota Center for Distance Education. He earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, and a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. He is married with two adult children. He returned to live in North Dakota three years ago.
Ryan Schuster, 39, Fargo, is an editor for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. He is married and the father to two young daughters.
Heather Syverson, 37, Fargo, is a communications coordinator at AE2S, a civil engineering consulting firm. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from NDSU. She is married and has lived in Fargo her whole life.
Laura Vogel, 26, Fargo, is employed by the State of Minnesota as the domestic violence court coordinator in Clay County. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from NDSU and a master of public administration degree from Kent State. She is single and a Fargo native.
