I am writing because of my concern that $230,000 was spent on the terrazzo floor in the Science Building atrium at Minnesota State University Moorhead. While the floor design is stunning, and I was pleased to read that the intricate finish is durable, I question spending $230,000. I believe a less elaborate floor would have been a better idea.
Students attending MSUM are challenged to find a place to park. Maybe a less costly floor would have allowed some of that $230,000 to be spent on additional parking and/or lower student fees or even teacher's salaries? I find myself wondering about this.
