Keeping the University of North Dakota nickname is paramount to the Sioux tribes. With UND having the most comprehensive American Indian programs in the U.S., completely changing the iconic symbol/nickname of UND would just continue the erosion of the great tribal nations from current Americans' memories.

Couldn't the Sioux nations, UND, the state of North Dakota and the NCAA compromise by dropping "Fighting" from the UND nickname and embrace "Sioux" with respect and pride for all the right reasons?
