My "hats off" to The Forum for featuring the Top of the Class graduating students from area high schools. These young men and women are hard working, dedicated to excellence and will certainly be our leaders of tomorrow. They are truly deserving of this recognition and I hope The Forum continues to feature academic achievements.
As I read through each one, I noticed they all had one thing in common. Not only were they great students, they were also very active in speech, debate, Student Congress, Key Club, orchestra, etc. These extracurricular activities are very time consuming but they produce very poised, articulate, disciplined and self-confident young people. They will all be going to college in the fall. It would be interesting to see where their careers take them over time.
I know that money is tight for school and sports activities get more than their fair share of funding and attention but I do hope that the area high schools will recognize that the activities these young adults participated in are equally important and deserving of far more support than they usually get.
If The Forum keeps honoring students such as these, it can have a very positive impact on their schools and fellow students. You're on the right track. Keep up the good work.
