I've often wondered how the German people could allow Hitler to do the things he did. Why didn't they rise up in protest? How accountable are they for his actions?
Now I find myself wondering how could our country allow President Bush to do the things he has done? Maybe we shouldn't let the rest of the world dictate what we do, but I think we should listen to them. Being the world's bully is no way to go.
The real question about Bush isn't "How can he be so awful?" but rather "How did a democracy, how did we as a nation, put someone so frightfully incompetent and morally obtuse in a position of such power?"
