We support Cass County and our commissioners for the removal of the jail and sheriff's residence. The commissioners have listened to all arguments and have treated the "Support the Jail" group fairly. They took proper course of action by asking for permission from the Historical Society to demolish the buildings.
We agree that there are representative historical buildings that need to be preserved, but it is not feasible to save every single one. Knowing the condition of these particular buildings and the projected cost to save them, it would be poor judgment to do so. The commission is taking salvageable parts to incorporate into the new building.
Again, we feel that this is a responsible action on their part, and we commend them for it.
