I have been reading and listening to all the chatter on gift cards. It seems that someone wants you to believe that these stores are out to get you.
First off, why would anyone sit on a gift card for a year or longer? I don't think I have ever kept one up to three months. My thought is, you get it, you use it. If you lose it, too bad.
I don't agree with the maintenance fees they charge, but I see nothing wrong with expiration dates. It is like having a check outstanding because the person you wrote it to hasn't cashed it yet. You still have to account for it in your checkbook.
Quit crying. If you get a
gift card, go buy yourself something - NOW.
