The dreams of local soccer enthusiasts came true this year with the opening of the Pepsi Soccer Complex at Hector Airport. More than 2,000 young soccer players just completed their spring season of F-M soccer. The comments of praise were overwhelming, the fields were in excellent shape, the parking adequate, and the coffee and hot chocolate plentiful for those who braved the cold windy weather.
I was involved with this project from start to finish and it was only through the efforts and cooperation of many people that this complex came to be. Many thanks go to the Forward Fargo Soccer group and the Fargo Park District for the many hours spent fund raising and designing a first-class facility.
As project coordinator for Forward Fargo Soccer, I worked hand-in-hand with the Fargo Park District, in particular Roger Gress and Dave Leeker. We worked together to prepare the complex for this spring season and are in the process of planning the finishing touches.
