Steve Wagner's article in the Sunday, April 7, Forum about the Richland County sheriff's race left out some important facts concerning Greg Puetz's election for sheriff. I was in the room when Wagner interviewed him and most of the answers to his concerns in Richland County were not included in the article. I wish to give a truer picture of this candidate's goals.
Puetz's priority is with the residents of this county and the taxes that are paid by those residents. Richland County isn't an endless revenue generator through property taxes. When various departments, including the sheriff's, have increases and proposed higher spending, any citizen in this county should be aware and concerned.
As sheriff and administrator of that department's budget, Puetz feels that we can provide good protection through the sheriff's department and save considerable money for the county and its citizens. This is a win-win scenario for all who live here.
