I thought protecting trees was extremely important in Fargo. I guess only for certain causes. WDAY news reported that 300 trees will be removed (with 68 being saved for transplantation) to put in a sound barrier wall near Interstate 94; 232 trees will be killed so a few people can have it quieter? They knew I-94 was there when they bought their homes. It's been that way for years. Aren't they used to the noise by now?

This is unreal when just two weeks ago we were told that trees were so important that a mere 20 or so couldn't be pruned to save a home on the National Register of Historic Places. Fargo had given the Baer family the OK to buy and move the home but then changed their minds because they had to protect the trees. If I recall correctly one of the moving route options listed in The Forum showed a maximum of 50 trees being affected, with only 5 actually being removed.

I can't believe the priorities this town has. Let's smash a family's home, after we already said they could have it, so we can save a few trees. Never mind the number of trees the house was built from to begin with, or how that will affect the landfill. Having it quiet in a few backyards is worth killing 232 trees though. The public won't mind in this important case. We'll just throw them in the landfill on top of the scraps from the Baer home. Something stinks in this town and it's not the beet plant.
