The Forum should bring back Mallard Fillmore to maintain its pretense of being politically neutral. It is one of the few conservative things about the newspaper. It served to counter the left-wing Doonesbury.
If one doesn't like a comic strip, then don't read it. If Mallard Fillmore is not brought back, then Doonesbury should be canceled to be fair.
I suggest that The Forum introduce the Sunday strip, Prince Valiant. This strip has been printed for more than 3,700 weeks, which depicts the adventures of a knight doing good deeds during the Dark Ages. Both liberals and conservatives can enjoy this story without losing caste.
During World War II, I delivered the evening Forum on Moorhead Route 5 for about five years (1943-48). The front page stories were about D-Day, VJ Day, etc. I wondered what the paper would do for news after the war. Now I know: D-Day has been replaced by fat cats. What a disgrace.
