So, groups of our "New Americans" want to initiate a petition to recall Commissioner Dave Piepkorn because he does not, in their opinion, represent the entire community and he is an enemy of refugee resettlement. I do not recall Piepkorn blocking or stopping any refugee settling in the F-M area.
I believe he's only searching out the proper information in order to understand the cost and inter workings of this program and the impact(s) it has on the community. I am, for one, supportive of his efforts to truly identify how the refugee influx has impacted certain aspects of our daily life.
If it only takes three thousand plus signatures to initiate a recall, I guess I could get ten times that number to keep him in office. This appears, to me, to be some sort of discrimination in reverse. What's to hide?
