Letter: Why would The Forum promote a cat killer?

I am writing in response to "Moorhead man charged with killing cats has massive online following" published in The Forum March 6. The actions of this individual are despicable, and he deserves to be punished to the full extent of Minnesota law.

I am writing in response to "Moorhead man charged with killing cats has massive online following" published in The Forum March 6. The actions of this individual are despicable, and he deserves to be punished to the full extent of Minnesota law.

The article includes information that the cat killer was "....featured on sites modeling the local clothing brand Lost in Fargo and he has shared images of himself modeling shirts with the Fargo-based brand." It goes on to almost read like a PR hack bragging him up talking about his being a 'multi-talented artist' who lived in '....many places like Tokyo and Paris before ending up in Minnesota.'

Frankly, I don't care how talented he is or what a great model he is. He killed defenseless animals and is about as low a form of human as can be imagined. I took the time to look up the Lost in Fargo website and was surprised to see a list of retailers who are associated with the brand. I took the time to contact seven of the firms plus Lost in Fargo expressing my disappointment with their connection with this reject from humanity.

Within an hour I had received telephone calls from several of the firms contacted advising they had no connection with this 'cat killer' and they were also contacting Lost in Fargo management to express their disgust and concern. Their calls reaffirmed my faith in humanity to a large degree and I thank them for their follow-up!

After visiting with representatives of the firms who called me, I tend to question why Forum News Service thought it was an important part of the story to include any mention of Lost in Fargo or the 'PR junk' about his career? I took the time to get more information on Lost in Fargo and contact the firms listed on their website, maybe the writer of this story should have taken the time to follow-up with some of these folks also and get more accurate information before writing the story?

This despicable person and the story of what he did does not deserve almost a quarter page article with almost two full columns devoted to bragging him up.
