I read Irene Duenow's letter published June 9, and I have to say I was appalled that there are still people out there that think this way. Sex education is not “satan inspired” nor is it misguided.
Sex education in school has brought down the high rates of teen pregnancy. If anything should be done to sex education in schools, it should be taught at a younger age so that teens are fully aware of all the possible consequences.

Also, abstinence-only sex education should be banned because it has been proven to be completely ineffective. Furthermore, teaching children on how to parent is not something that needs to be taught in school. That should be done at home through watching their own parents, or when they are older there are parenting classes that can be taken as adults about to have children.
