I've lived in and around Fargo for 63 years and have always tried to patronize the fraternal clubs. Most have closed. Some still struggle to stay open.

On Saturday, we like to stop at the AMVETS for a hamburger and brew. Last Saturday, we decided to stop on the way home at the VFW—Veterans of Foreign Wars— on Broadway. On all the tables were cardboard fliers that read the following:

Men's Room Drag Show

Friday Night Kings Show

Saturday Night Queens Show

No cover charge / Show times 9:30 p.m.

VFW Post 762, 202 Broadway, Fargo

Sponsored by Bud Light

I remember in the 1970s, the VFW was on Broadway (across from Sammy's Pizza) and people would "drag" Broadway just to "show" off their cars.
