Now the Diversion Authority is “watching taxpayers money,” with the buyouts required by the FM Diversion project.

In the past, Oxbow home owners were bought out with outlandish over payments. The Diversion Authority said it was because of “housing of last resort.” Now farmers who make a living providing food for our table are told there will be no "Oxbow buy outs," no housing of last resort.

Housing of last resort requires a new home that is equal to the ones destroyed by the project or funds to obtain one. There are few, if any, farm sites available that meet the standard set by the law, but no housing of last resort for the rest of us.

The Diversion Authority paid off Oxbow and "The devil take the hindmost” still holds true.
