The Savanna Greywind murder was one of the biggest stories to come out of Fargo in years. The Forum had dozens of news stories. Many rightfully made the front page.

It was the murder of Savanna Greywind that prompted then Sen. Heidi Heitkamp to introduce Savanna’s Act in the Senate in October 2017.

After Heitkamp's re-election loss, Savanana’s Act was reintroduced In the Senate in 2019 and was passed this spring. After passing the House in September of 2020, Savanna’s Act was sent to the president's desk for his needed signature.

This bill was signed by President Trump on Sat Oct, 10th. This bill was backed by both parties and it is great news for the indigenous people not only of North Dakota but our entire nation.

With all these facts in mind why would The Forum put the news of the signing by Trump of this important legislation on page C4 near the bottom of the page. It was even under a large article on a Biden - Harris campaign policy plan for tribal Nations.

The signing of Savannah’s Act deserved a front page story in The Forum.
