This stimulus "deal" really slipped out like a wet fart in the end, didn't it? That's one way to get relief, I guess.
Democratic leadership agreed to fund President Trump's wall to the tune of $1.4 billion and to a "three martini lunch" tax credit for corporate meal expenses. It's not even clear small businesses will benefit much beyond that. A lot of talk for another massive handout to the ultrawealthy in the middle of a crisis.
What did the working class get after nine months of all this? A pathetic $600. A slap in the face. Disrespect.
Six hundred won't pay anyone's rent. But if you're refinancing your second home, you'll get to buy a couple of points off your new mortgage. And aren't the people who've had to postpone their vacations or curtail their parties the people who have suffered the absolute most this year? Maybe Marie Antoinette was right. If the people don't have any bread, they should eat cake instead.
I wonder what happened to the Old Regime.
