After reading Mr. Nelson’s “column” bemoaning transgender girls joining the high school basketball team, I can only say: Who cares?
Who cares what the makeup of the basketball team is? I don’t care if the athletic director in any high school allows stoats and otters on the team. Or in the choir. Or in metal shop or English class, for that matter.
Why are the tired old complaints about transgender kids always about athletics? Is it because you believe that participating in high school sports is the apotheosis of an adolescent’s life?
Trust me, Ross, there are dozens, if not hundreds, of things that are more important in a high schooler’s life than playing JV hoops.
