Mike McFeely’s column, “Why are Republicans so afraid of everything?” gave us an exhausting list of “Afraids.” I assume McFeely and his leftist Democrats are not afraid of anything – even though some of the things on his list I bet even he is afraid of. But there is one thing McFeely did not include in his list; it is what leftists like him do not want to be reminded of – Almighty God.

The left knows they don’t have any power over God. And so they must either deny God’s existence or simply remove him from government and society. They have been doing that since 1962 when they banned prayer in public schools.

Thank God (pun intended) the one thing that stands in their way to completely remove God from society is the Constitution. The Founding Fathers knew that fair and impartial laws can only come from a higher power. They all agreed the new nation could not survive without religious principles. They wisely determined that the new government should be based on “unalienable Rights” that were “endowed by their Creator” and that God is the source of truth and liberty, not mankind.

Speaking of liberty, has anyone noticed how much of our freedom has been lost in recent years? The word “liberty” is rarely mentioned by any politician or by the media. Could there be a correlation to our loss of liberty and removing any reference to God in our society? I believe that God is the author of freedom not government. By canceling God, we eventually forfeit our God-given rights and are freedom. Here are a few of troubling occurrences that I believe support my opinion.

One of our most basic rights is the right to vote for our leaders. President Biden recently called a new Georgia election law “Jim Crow on steroids” inciting division and confusion. He referred to it as “voter suppression” which is a lie. Laws to reduce voter fraud and improve election integrity preserve our liberty not suppress it!.

Borders are no longer being protected. Borders are established to protect its citizens from terrorists and enemy forces. Without borders how can we secure our liberty?

Abortion is considered a constitutional reproductive right but at the same time the unborn are deprived of their constitutional right to life and liberty. And if the Hyde Amendment is repealed by the Biden administration, taxpayers would be forced to fund the killing of unborn children depriving many of their religious liberty.

Special laws are enacted to establish new “rights” for those who change their gender under the guise of “equality.” These new rights abolish the religious conscience rights of millions of Americans. The Equality Act actually destroys liberty.

It is not a coincidence that as America has become more secular, it has become less free. These examples show how government is slowly taking our freedom. Mr. McFeely, you can add loss of liberty to your list of “Afraids.” All Americans should be concerned about the direction their country is headed. Whichever values America chooses to embrace, will determine whether we remain a free country.

The Founding Fathers did not want to establish a national religion, but they knew that religious values instill the necessary moral discipline and values needed to govern the new nation and keep it free. “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Pr 9:10). This is the wisdom our leaders need right now. I’m not “afraid” to admit it; only God can make America free…again.
