The GOP is standing behind Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green, R-Ga., who is full on Qanon crazy. She thinks Jewish space lasers cause forest fires and Dr. Fauci paid China so he could acquire the COVID-19 from China. She has written a bill reducing Dr. Fauci’s salary to zero until the Senate can confirm someone else for his position. Her proposed bill violates the Constitution because it targets an individual. She obviously did not do her homework on the issue because the Senate doesn’t confirm the director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease. I guess she was too busy raising money in Florida with Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., who is under investigation for sex trafficking a minor. She has no committee assignments so is effectively stripped on any influence. She has as much influence in Congress as I do. For his part, Gaetz is joking about being investigated as if child sex trafficking a child is funny.

Adding to the Trumplican crazy, Sydney Powell claims in court that her election fraud claims would not be believed by “reasonable people.” Who believes her claims? None other than GOP messiah, Donald Trump. So, in essence, a Trump lawyer is telling us that Trump is not a reasonable person. Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., is courageous enough to publicly say that the emperor has no clothes. (My apologies for the image.) Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.., blamed Trump for the insurrection until he didn’t. He targeted Cheney. The cowardice of the GOP is astounding as they went so far as to walk off the floor rather than be confronted with the truth.

This craziness says a lot about the national and North Dakota GOP. Rep. Kelly Armstrong is putting party above country. He is putting his seat in Congress above country. He said if he’s running “about whether or not, Liz Cheney is my conference chair, I’m not doing my job very well.” No, Congressman, if you are silent as members of your party spread bat guano crazy conspiracy theories and another one is under investigation for human trafficking, you aren’t doing your job well. Cheney is merely stating what all “reasonable people” already know. Just ask Powell or the dozens of judges who ruled there was no evidence of massive voter fraud.

I guess it’s easier to stand beside a failed president who has the Republicans in Arizona using a special light to look for bamboo in ballots, than to take a principled stand.

The GOP did not even bother to put together a party platform for 2020 so they stand for nothing. If you stand for nothing, you fall for anything. You easily fall for a snake oil salesman who thinks you are “disgusting” according to former Pence aide, Olivia Troye. I agree with Trump on this one, supporting him and his “big lie” is disgusting. They are playing with fire and we saw the results on January 6th. Our Republic may not survive the next insurrection.
