I find it interesting that Bette Grande hasn't made the connection between trickle-down economics and the last paragraph of her opinion column, published in The Forum of May 29, where she quotes Ronald Reagan, “We who live in free market societies believe that growth and prosperity, and ultimately human fulfillment are created from the bottom up, not the government down."

I believe that the quote could be aptly paraphrased as follows: “We who live in free market societies believe that growth and prosperity, and ultimately human fulfillment are created from the bottom up, not the corporations and 1%ers down.”

Trickle down has never worked. Half of the 2017 tax cut that Republicans touted as benefiting workers by raising salaries and wages was instead spent on companies buying back their own shares. Many CEOs' compensation is partially impacted by earnings per share; reduce the shares, CEO compensation goes up. Read the annual report section on executive compensation.
