I'd like to say thank you to the organizers of the Juneteenth Celebration held in Lindenwood Park on Saturday, June 19, 2021. I saw people smiling and laughing with each other. I saw children dancing and giggling and bouncing to the music. I saw people welcoming others to come closer to learn about what this holiday is all about. I saw no anger toward others. Somehow the organizers even picked a picture perfect summer day with blue skies, sunshine, little wind and beautiful temperatures. After this past year, this gathering was such a welcome sight!
I am a veteran retired teacher of 30 plus years. I knew very little about Juneteenth before last summer, unfortunately. Thank you again to the people who went to all the hard work to put on such a wonderful event.
