I am dumbstruck people still embrace the “big lie” that Trump won the election. Mike Hulett insinuated Trump actually won the election and fraud will be uncovered. Trump lost in numerous courts. Votes were recounted and legitimate audits carried out. The Michigan GOP did a deep dive into their election results and found no evidence of fraud. There has not been a single valid claim of massive voter fraud. The only dead people who “voted” were recently deceased people who had a family member who voted for Trump in their name. Trump and his cronies made calls to election officials to try to overturn the election results in his favor. There is audio evidence of this.
Trump does have a list of “accomplishments.” He downplayed the pandemic and told us it would “go away.” Bob Woodward has audio of Trump acknowledging how serious the pandemic was, but that differs from what Trump said to the American people. Trump called his supporters to D.C. on the day of the insurrection. He told them that “we” would march down to the Capitol. He would be with them. He told them to fight. Rudy Giuliani called for “trial by combat” and Mo Brooks said it was time to “start taking down names and kicking ass.” There are reports that Trump loved watching the mob storm the Capitol. He and his cronies got the mob filled with blood lust and sent them to the Capitol to overturn the election. He sent them to tear up our Constitution in his attempt at a power grab. He led the first nonpeaceful transition of power in our nation’s history.
Trump’s company and his CFO have now been charged with felonies. Trump and Don Jr. publicly admitted that they are guilty. Trump gives his employees apartments, cars and private school tuition to avoid taxes on a large scale. Providing apartments to his employees makes it very difficult for them to leave his company because they would also be homeless. It ensures their loyalty and complicity as he commits fraud. It’s a tactic the mob also uses.
This slavish devotion of people to Trump is mind boggling. I can’t decide if it’s a cult or a gaggle of fans similar to teens and their favorite celebrity. His rallies' attendees act like tweens at a Bieber concert. Perhaps we should send them all a poster with Trump’s face superimposed on a Rambo-like body. They could stay home gazing adoringly at the poster of their obese, orange idol. They could imagine that he is really the strong man he thinks he is. They can think of the “good old days’ when he told them COVID was going to go away or when his website scammed them into donating more to him than they intended.
In the meantime, let’s quit giving them an audience for their nonsense. It’s way past time for them to support their claims or shut up.
And meanwhile, here in reality, more jobs have been created in the U.S. since Biden’s inauguration than in any other time in history.
