School board recall attempts are being made all over the U.S., and Fargo has not escaped. A small group of parents in town are trying to recall four of the nine members of the Fargo School Board for reasons such as mask rules, distance learning, and school boundary changes.

In next June’s election, a majority of the school board — five out of nine members — will be up for election. The parents campaigning for a recall should focus there instead of pushing for a special election which costs our school district time and money and typically has lower voter turnout.

Fargo residents should weigh in on these issues at the ballot box next June. If parents have concerns, they should run for one of these five seats that will be up for election then.
