In letters and columns published by The Forum this week, the following words have been used to describe the organizers of the Fargo School Board Recall effort: "incompetents," "bozos," and "fools."
Name-calling political opponents does nothing to help educate the next generation.
Instead of using your voice to sow further division and angst, sign up to volunteer in a classroom. Rather than trying to rub salt in the wound of somebody you disagree with, reach out to your neighborhood school and ask where you can help. Write a column about the dozens of open positions within our school system that do not require advanced education. Use your platform to encourage people to join our team. Perhaps you can even join our team. There are many positions currently open that do not even require a full-time commitment.
Let's stop sowing division and start reaping the rewards of setting a good example for our children. Let us again become passionate about the real work ahead of us: educating and empowering all students to succeed.
Grant Kraft is the former chairperson of the Fargo Education Association 2021 Negotiations Committee and 2020 Governance Committee.
