Letter: Bison missed perfect opportunity to go Division I

Things are changing in the world, including the college football landscape. Bison football success has turned into its own worst nightmare. If the Bison would somehow go 9-3 and lose first round of the playoffs, fans would be asking for the coach to be fired. When you cannot even continue to sell out playoff games, something needs to change and moving up is the best bet for that.

If there ever was a year where the Bison football team would make the jump to Division I, 2020 was the time. We could have put in the paperwork and sat out this year being ineligible for any postseason. We could have gone out and scheduled a bunch of FBS opponents like Army or BYU or Georgia State. No spring football and just ramp up for next fall when things could seem to be back to a somewhat normal college football season.

We could be getting so excited for big-time football next fall.
