Letter: Costco cares more about profits than safety

It's the height of hypocrisy to have circles on their floor to distance customer in line 6 feet apart but then put competing lines that make it difficult to not brush up against another customer when checking out.

I have been a significant customer of Costco since they opened their doors in West Fargo. I loved the well-spaced-out parking spots and the incredibly quick checkouts, even on busy days.

They were one of the first stores to mandate the wearing of masks here. I can honestly say, because they did that, it's the only retailer I've been in since March. I care for a vulnerable adult and try to be responsible. But what I witnessed the other day convinced me that they actually care more about profits then the health of their customers and employees.

As I was checking out, it was impossible to be more then even a few inches from other customers because they have squeezed in more cashier stations to ready for the holiday rush. It's the height of hypocrisy to have circles on their floor to distance customer in line 6 feet apart but then put competing lines that make it difficult to not brush up against another customer when checking out.

I would be happy to use their website like I do with other local businesses, but 99% of what I buy there is not available online. For now at least, no more Costco for me.
