Letter: Every life is precious

A person holds a letter with the text "letter to the editor" overlaid on the image.

“We will fight to save every life we can.” These, along with the quote found in the title to this letter are words recently declared by New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, during one of his coronavirus briefings as he urged residents to take the social distancing and stay at home precautions seriously.

Nearly all elective medical procedures have been postponed in hospitals throughout the nation, and yet most states, including Cuomo’s New York and our own local states of North Dakota and Minnesota, continue to keep abortion facilities open for business as usual resulting in the unnecessary and intentional death of thousands of innocent human lives every day in our country.

We fight with all of our might to try to save human lives from the coronavirus - and then we intentionally kill other human lives by abortion. How can we as a society not see the inconsistency and insanity of this?

Keep in mind that we are not talking about the very rare situations where a pregnant mother’s life is in danger and needs expert medical treatment in a hospital. Though in those situations the unborn’s life may end through such treatment, medical experts agree that intentional abortion is rarely if ever needed. Nearly all abortions are done for other reasons which is why they are referred to as “elective” abortions.
