Having just returned, I want to thank the entire Honor Flight committee and all of the sponsors for the wonderfully organized trip. We all felt like VIPs in Washington because our buses all had a police escort all the time, just like a presidential motorcade. They cleared any jammed-up traffic for us so we could get around easily to see all the monuments and important sites.
We had a great banquet Sunday evening and excellent accommodations at the hotel and a delicious breakfast in the morning. We lucked out on the weather because it was sunny both days and about 85 with low humidity, which is unusual for D.C.
Upon arrival back in Fargo, as we came down the escalator, the band was playing patriotic songs and members of the Honor Guard were standing at attention with their flags. Hundreds of people were there to welcome us back and shake our hands. It was truly the experience of a lifetime. We are all so appreciative of being recognized for our service so many years ago. This trip will be in our memories forever.
