Letter: I'm grateful to the Chamber for weighing in on the NDSU president search
Burgum writes, "A great number of people, not only in Fargo, but North Dakota and the country, appreciate and thank President Bresciani for his wonderful leadership and dedication to NDSU."
I want to applaud the recent full page Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce letter along with an impressive list of businesses and people in support of asking the search committee and State Board of Higher Education to understand the importance of selecting the next North Dakota State University president.
It was suggested they find the same dedicated leadership that has led NDSU to unparalleled success such as the recent D1 research designation. Also to find someone who is good at engaging people and can promote a vision of the future which helped NDSU Foundation reach a $485 million goal. Someone who can “carry forward the positive momentum the campus has built under President Bresciani’ s leadership.”
Which begs the question, why was Bresciani fired by the board? He has been a passionate and tireless advocate for NDSU. Maybe that ruffled some feathers.
Something long overdue was equal student funding from the state. Thankfully, Bresciani, Gov. Dalrymple along with other supporters finally achieved that goal.
Perhaps fair treatment was questioned when the new presidential hire at the University of North Dakota was offered a higher salary than Bresciani?
There were many situations that NDSU needed a strong advocate and Bresciani stood up to the challenge.
A great number of people, not only in Fargo, but North Dakota and the country, appreciate and thank President Bresciani for his wonderful leadership and dedication to NDSU.
