These are the words of Jesus as they are found in Matthew Chapter 22: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets” (ESV).
God’s greatest commandments have a common theme that needs to be applied to our actions as humans today more than ever: love. So let’s love.
Let’s love and support our brothers and sisters that have been oppressed in our continent by our citizens and leaders for more than 400 years.
Let’s love our planet that has seen atmospheric carbon dioxide levels grow exponentially since 1950, reached carbon dioxide and temperature levels that have never been recorded in the entire history of available data (NASA), and has a countdown of less than a decade before irreversible damage sets in.
Let’s wear our masks to love and protect at-risk individuals in our communities. Even if it’s later proven that they “don’t work,” the minor inconvenience of wearing a mask certainly shows love for one’s neighbors far more than simply rejecting the idea because of the “oppression” it creates.

And finally, let’s show love to our brothers and sisters struggling with any other matters, mental or physical, as we work through this unprecedented period of time in our lives. At the end of the day we are ultimately all human- so America, let’s choose love.
