Letter: Plan how to cast your vote now

If you decide to vote by mail, call or write your county auditor to request an absentee ballot application. Return the application form and a ballot will be sent to you. You can then vote. The ballot can be mailed back to your county auditor, or you can drop it off at a secure box in your county.

How are you going to vote this fall? You should plan now so you know how, when and where to vote, especially if you are going to vote absentee.

It was recently reported that every county in North Dakota this fall will have locations open to vote in-person. Because of the pandemic, each of us has to make a decision as to what to do – go to the polls or vote by absentee ballot.

If you decide to vote by mail, call or write your county auditor to request an absentee ballot application. Return the application form and a ballot will be sent to you. You can then vote. The ballot can be mailed back to your county auditor, or you can drop it off at a secure box in your county. In Fargo it is located at the Cass County Courthouse and is available at all hours.

Remember, if you don’t want to expose yourself to the virus by going to the polls, you need to request a ballot to vote at home. Do it early so your vote counts.
