I grew up in an era when many deals were completed by a handshake. It was a time when the words "pledge" and "commitment" actually meant something. Not any longer, at least not by several high profile Republican senators.
Four years ago, Sens. Mitch McConnell, Lindsay Graham, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio and John Hoeven, among other others, publicly pledged and committed that they would, going forward, follow the precedent they set in ignoring President Obama's Supreme Court nominee. Since the recent death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, they have all reneged on their pledge and commitment.
Don't try to make any handshake deals with these five senators unless you like getting slime on your hands.
