Covid-19 is impacting animals in an unexpected way. The animals are being “culled” and “depopulated.” Those are polite words for murder. The animals are killed, and their gift of life is wasted. They are gassed, shot and exterminated because they have no market value. Killing them for food is awful, but murdering them because short-sighted “humans” built terrible economic policies, is reprehensible, infinitely magnified.
Two million chickens and 700,000 pigs have been murdered because of bad economic policy. That number will rise. The Bible says, “Humans and animals have the same destiny. One dies just like the other. All of them have the same breath of life” in Ecclesiastes 3: 19-20. All life is precious.
Let us honor the animals needlessly killed now and every day by reducing our meat consumption. Eat meat once a week, instead of with every meal. Reducing the need for meat is spiritual, Christian, moral, ethical, healthy and kind. And the less meat you eat, the less blood you have on your hands.
