Letter: We have nothing but positive things to say about our father's care at Sanford

We had nurses laugh with us, cry with us and help guide us in this hellish time. We are incredibly grateful for all of them. It was incredibly important to us that they knew how much we appreciated them and their work.

My father was in the ICU for what felt like weeks upon weeks. I believe it was only a long nine days. Myself and my three siblings cannot say enough how pleased we were not only with our father's care but the genuine care that was expressed and extended to the four of us.

The entire staff was truly amazing. From doctors, respiratory, day nurses, night nurses; RNs, BSNs and CNAs. My father didn’t spend much time alone, but as a family we took great comfort knowing he was well taken care of while we weren’t able to be there.

We had nurses laugh with us, cry with us and help guide us in this hellish time. We are incredibly grateful for all of them. It was incredibly important to us that they knew how much we appreciated them and their work. And now here we are about a month later and we do not want that to be overlooked by their supervisors and honestly, their supervisors. They have embedded themselves into our family with these memories!

Our father passed Oct. 10 at 12:03 AM; our favorite nurse, Kailee, was working. I later heard from one of my brothers that our father was her first patient that passed while in her care. I’ll be honest, we are kind of glad; in hopes that she remembers us as fondly as we do of her. The way she has touched our hearts cannot be taught at any school. You either have these qualities or you do not. Kailee, Meggie, Lauren and Tori--these few in particular have careers that will let them touch so many people. Take care of these employees. They made everyone of you look good!

If I can be of any service please reach out because on behalf of all four of us we have nothing but positive things to say! Thank you to all in the ICU 2 East, you are appreciated.
