President Trump has complained profusely that fraud will occur with mail-in voting, despite the fact that he has no proof. Past studies contradict this, showing the attempts are minimal and easily caught.
When Trump found himself behind in the polls, his solution was to appoint a Postmaster General with several conflicts of interest. Louis DeJoy is a mega donor to Trump and has interest in his replacing the postal system if it becomes privatized.
DeJoy's actions to problem solve mail-in voting were despicable. He began removing mail sorting machines, requiring postal workers to sort mail by hand. He also began removing mail drop-off boxes. These actions would impede voting ballots from arriving in time to be counted in this election.
Because Americans protested, we were promised these actions would stop, but only temporarily until after the election. We need to know that these sorting machines, drop-off boxes and the mail contained in them are returned and handles appropriately.
The first Postmaster General was Benjamin Franklin. The postal system is an American treasure and covered in the Constitution. DeJoy deserves to be fired and replaced by someone more competent and dedicated to preserving the integrity and production of the U.S. Postal System.
