Representing my hometown in the Minnesota Legislature has been an absolute honor and highlight of my life. I want to thank the people of Moorhead and Oakport Township for bestowing the responsibility on me to get the job done over the last eight years.
It goes without saying that this year’s been incredibly difficult. People are getting sick and dying. Businesses and jobs are being lost. Basic human connections and normal functions of life now seem like a distant past. But there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The challenges before us require real American grit, and we all need to dig a little deeper for just a little longer. We have got to recognize how small our political differences really are in the grand scheme of life, and come together as Americans to be a stronger country. Times like this demand it.
I can’t imagine how hard it’s been for people who’ve lost loved ones to the coronavirus. I can’t imagine how hard it’s been for entrepreneurs to watch the small businesses they built from scratch teeter on the brink of collapse.
The only way we’re going to get through these times is to come together as one American people. Patience, listening, respect, and understanding for one another need to be the way rather than rash judgement, assumptions, speculation, skepticism and ill temper.

We need to be the best we can be right now, for ourselves and each other. There are brighter days ahead, and we will see them together.
