As a member of the F-M Skylarks Model Airplane Club, I would like to thank The Forum for the excellent article in the Monday, July 28 edition about our 47th Annual Red River Valley Championships.
Helmut Schmidt, reporter, and Darren Gibbins, photographer, did an outstanding job of depicting the fun and excitement of our hobby of control line aero-modeling. Schmidt spent hours interviewing many of our members, out-of-town competitors and spectators to get a balanced and accurate view of the day's events. Gibbins' photographs added visual interest and drama to the excellent article.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Fargo Park District for sponsoring our club and for our facilities at Trefoil Park. They keep it maintained beautifully. The out-of-towners tell us it is one of the best flying fields they have ever seen.
