After several letters bashing the president and the prospect of war I am stunned at their ridiculous and even ignorant content. One writer speaking of the possible war on Iraq says she will not support the decision of President George Bush unless he can prove that there was a real threat. I'm not sure what kind of "proof" she's looking for but has she so soon forgotten the horrors of 9-11? It seems to me that was proof enough. If we wait too long we will get more proof likely in the form of another devastating act of terror.
I was appalled to see another writer state that our governmemt is corrupt and that America's real enemies are not Saddam Hussein and Iraq but President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Though it is his prerogative to state his opinion calling the president our "enemy" and our government "corrupt" is outrageous to any sensibly minded citizen.
It is common knowledge that Saddam Hussein is a ruthless and dangerous madman thoughtlessly oppressing, torturing and murdering his own people. Yet the president's efforts to protect our nation from such lunacy make him the enemy?
It is your right to disagree with the president and his administration. But why not grow up and do so in an honorable and intelligent way.
